Fishing

As a Born Again Christian it is difficult to watch as family members continue to deny that they need a savior and think that they are in control. I have tried unsucessfully to share the Gospel with them on many occasions, only to be rebuffed and even disowned by one individual.

Recently I was praying about how to reach them and God revealed to me that I was to write a book. I am not an author and was quite sure that I had misheard God, but He reaffirmed His message. I researched how to self publish a book and was very surprised at how easy it is to do so.

I began typing and again I was surprised at how easily the words flowed from my brain to the screen. In a few short days I had a relatively complete manuscript. I then spent several days working on correcting spelling, grammar, layout and chapter order. I then gave a copy to my wife and my pastor for review. In a few more days I had updated the manuscript and order a few “proof” copies from the publisher. A little over a week after ordering those, I had a new set of corrections (mostly formatting) completed and was ordering final copies of the book. I have been distributing them to family for the last several days and am praying that these books will open doors for them and they will begin to see the truth and will be set free.

So what is the book? It is titled “Fishing” and is inspired by Matthew 4:19, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”
Fishing is written in simple language to help the reader understand who God and Jesus are, learn about the Bible and to know God’s plan of salvation. Written to be a non-confrontational method of sharing with family and friends. The reader is encouraged to study the Bible and come to their own conclusions.

Fishing covers the following topics:

Check it out. So far I have had great reviews from pastors and other Christians that it is a great tool to share the gospel with family and friends. Many have ordered from 2 to 25 copies to use in this way.

All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to support the needs of the families of Christians who have been murdered or imprisoned for their faith in Jesus Christ!

School Tragedies

I am deeply saddened by the events in Florida yesterday, February 14, 2018. Once again we have seen senseless violence taking the lives of students and teachers. I am seeing the usual arguments popping up. Democrats vs Republicans, gun foes vs gun advocates, etc. Everybody trying to use the blood of children to leverage their point of view.

Let me state upfront that I am not aligned with ANY political party, but I am a conservative, constitutional individual. I believe in the second amendment, which clearly states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

I support the ownership of weapons and I do own various weapons. I do not own nor do I have a desire to possess an AR-15 type weapon, not because I am opposed to them, it is kind of like why I don’t own motorcycle or a pickup truck. Now I am getting a bit off track, but I want you to understand where I am coming from.

So back to the school violence. Why do we have it?
We live in a corrupt society that puts little value on life, teaches children that they came from nothing and will return to nothingness. Our children are growing up with a feeling of worthlessness, nothing matters! We have provided them with video games where the entire time is spent searching out and killing others. This creates a mindset that killing is a game with a goal to be the high scorer. What happens when the thrill of the video console is lost? I guess shooting some real people, spilling real blood with real bullets may be a logical next step.

That is part of the reason, but deeper still is who we allow to direct our lives and those of our children. On June 17, 1963 the Supreme Court declared school-sponsored prayer and Bible readings unconstitutional. Just 4 months and 3 days before the 55th anniversary of this decision, we see more children dying in the schools where God is not allowed.

Ephesians 6:11 states “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

When we take prayer out of the schools we remove the armor of God and open the doors to the devil. We are warned in 1Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

So what is the answer to stopping this violence in the schools? I wish I had the answer, but it will not be easy to undo the effects of the last 55 years. Maybe having armed guards within the schools is what we need now.

Is it too late to fix this problem? I don’t think so, but as I said, it is a long road back to where we were on June 16, 1963

Let’s start filling our children with a sense of purpose, a respect for life and other people’s rights. Help them to understand that they were created by a loving, caring God who wants to see them succeed in life.

Let’s end legalized abortion. Why is it the right of the mother to kill a child in the womb or the birth canal, but murder a few inches further into the world?

Let’s bring prayer back into the schools, and stop trying to pretend that God does not exist!

Let’s get our kids off of Facebook and into the Book, the Bible.

Parents, please teach your children how to pray to God before terror strikes. not seek answers from Him afterwards.

Lets bring God back into our lives, our families, our schools, workplaces and our CHURCHES!

Our churches are not without fault in this. When the true word of God is not taught, then a false word is taught. Hell is a real place! The devil is real! God did create everything, including man in His image! We did not evolve from some glop that came from nowhere! Salvation is available and essential!!

It is my prayer that each of those killed had accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and are in His presence today. I also pray that those who witnessed this tragedy (either in person or thru internet/TV) who does not have a persona relationship with Jesus, would seek to have one. There is a God who loves you and wants you to be saved, but we are all guilty of sin and must pay the penalty. Jesus paid the penalty for everyone of us, but most will refuse to accept this free gift. take advantage of this opportunity today.

The new year 2018

Yesterday morning, January 1, 2018, I was sitting at the table eating breakfast and observed 3 squirrels foraging for food under our maple trees. The sun was shining and it was calm. A beautiful sight, however It was -11 degrees F,
I was reminded of Luke 12:22-34
22 Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.
23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?
25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?
29 “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.
30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.
31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things[a] shall be added to you.
32 “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.
34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

As I began reading this passage it became clear that we need not worry about the little things in life, such as what to wear and what to eat. There are many more important things to be concerned with. I am not suggesting that we do not need to have a source of income or shop for clothes and food, just that it should not be a source of worry. God provides for all of his creatures in all things. Those squirrels I was watching did not have the ability to plant a crop for themselves, but God provides them with ample sources for their food. And those grey fur jackets that they wear, provided by God to keep them warm without the benefit of any worldly devices.
If God cares for these creatures do you ever consider how much more He cares for you?

Does God value you more than these little creatures? YES!!! God values you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to suffer and die on the cross for you. So what does His death and suffering do for me, you may ask. Scripture tells us that the wages (payment) for sin is death, that we have all sinned and are destined to spend eternity in hell for our sins. God is a just God, and demands a penalty for our sins, but He is also a loving God. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus to accept the punishment and pay the price for our sins. The blood of Jesus was shed for our sins. Because of this God sees us a righteous and allows us access to His kingdom.
That is how much God cares for you!
I also see that worrying (vs 25 & 26) does nothing positive for us. It will not resolve anything or fix anything. If we worry about all the possible outcomes of a situation we will probably take the “easiest” path, which may not be what God has in mind for us. We can easily be distracted from seeking God’s direction. If we do seek his direction, He will provide for you.
Proverbs 3:5&6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

We worry about having the proper clothing to wear, however from what I see around me, what is proper seems to be dictated by what is in style, rather than what is appropriate for the conditions. God says that He will clothe us beyond what we can imagine. (vs 27& 28). He will clothe us in righteousness, if we have faith and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
God recognizes our needs and provides them for His children. God is a good Father who looks after His family with tender love and care. There is one condition we must meet. We need to be a part of His family, which can only happen when we put our trust in Jesus, and Jesus alone.
John 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Verse 31 tells us that if we seek the kingdom of God, all else that we need will be added to us. What a blessing it is to understand this truth. Having the assurance of the Father’s love takes away the worries of this world and puts everything in its place relative to the spending eternity in the kingdom of God!
If we are followers of Christ, we do not need to fear for our future. It is assured, We will live in His kingdom for eternity. Notice that the scripture (verse 32) says “Little flock”. Not all will enter heaven.
Matthew 7:13 & 14
13 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Whenever the Israelite people strayed from God, he judged them and punished them, but He always preserved a remnant. The few were saved, the many defied God and perished. The Father’s good pleasure is to give you the kingdom. All you need to do is let go of this world and seek God. Verse 33 says to stop seeking worldly treasures that become “gods” in your life and distract you from God. Verse 34 says that where your treasures are, there also will be your heart. If worldly possessions are what you seek you will not find God or His kingdom.

It is my prayer for you that 2018 will be the year when you find the peace of God and the assurance of eternal life in his Kingdom.

Hi and welcome to my blog!

As 2018 is fast approaching my intention is to look at how the world is unfolding around us and what it looks like from a Christian perspective. As I look back at the happenings of 2017, I am dismayed at the state of my country, the United States of America. I see hatred in every corner. It seems as if anyone speaks for a moral stand or even worse, a biblical stand on an issue, they are viewed as being hateful and evil.

Unfortunately the world believes that we are attempting to “shove our view down their throat”, when in fact we are trying to educate them on the eternal ramifications of their life choices. It is for them to decide what to do with it.

I will not even attempt to discuss the political events unless they collide with a biblical perspective. However, I see the political landscape as one that is leaning farther and farther away from God, which is a sure (historically) way to bring about destruction.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Your comments are welcome, although I do not plan to debate with you, I will answer serious questions that are left here.
